Christian Dominic Malmgren Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Christian Dominic Malmgren, age 17, of Wilmington, DE, gained his angel wings on November 23, 2021. Despite his battle with cancer, Christian decided to live in the moment and treasure every day spent with his cherished family and many friends. He brought joy to all he met with his charismatic personality, mixed together with a touch of sarcasm. Christian was always the life of the party, lighting up any room he walked into, whether it was playing a tune on his ukulele, cracking a joke, or letting everyone know how hot he was! Christian loved to travel, and he had aspired to become a pilot so he could travel to many places. His Uncle Bert made Christian’s dream come true as he piloted a small plane and saw the world from the skies. Thanks to his Uncle Ross, he even earned his Honorary Certificate of Command and pilot wings from Delta. Christian made lasting memories with family and friends as he travelled around the US – his recent bucket list trip to California being a gift from so many who loved him. Always on his return from being away from home he was greeted by his faithful dog Liberty (Lib Lib). Most of all, Christian was blessed with an incredible family who loved, encouraged, and supported him unceasingly in good days and not-so-good days, and who brought a smile to his face. Christian inspired all to have faith, to be positive, strong, and resilient in the face of adversity and to love unconditionally. He was a beacon of light, and that light will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were blessed to know him. Christian is survived by his devoted parents, Christian and Yolanda Malmgren; sisters, Amanda Lopez and Jessica Lopez (Michael); and 5 nieces and nephews: Michael, Amaya, Rachelle, Janessa, and Liam. Christian also leaves behind his loving maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be held Monday, November 29, 2021, from 6-9 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1010 Fourth St., Wilmington, DE 19805. A second visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
