Concepcion O. Ranoa
December 8, 1935 - December 29, 2020
Concepcion Ranoa went home peacefully with her Lord on December 29, 2020, in Newark, Delaware. “Nanay Connie”, as many knew her, was born on December 8, 1935, to Ciriaca Ochavillo and Gaudencio Ranoa in Garcia Hernandez, Bohol, Philippines. She was orphaned at an early age and raised by members of extended family, finishing her schooling in the nearby region of Mabini. Though presented with difficult circumstances, Connie did not allow them to hold her back and she became a strong, faithful, hard-working woman. Above all, she may be best remembered for her infectious joy that persisted despite any circumstance. Connie immigrated to the United States in 1991 and lived for 10 years with her eldest daughter, Yolanda. She became an American citizen in 1997 and later moved in 2001, living with her youngest daughter, Regina, until the time of her passing. While in the US, Connie spent most of working career at the Courtyard by Marriott. She was well-known there as a loyal, friendly, and hard-working employee who was rewarded on several occasions as the “employee of the month” for her work ethic. Also a loyal and active member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, she regularly served in the church choir and seniors Bible study group. She was a friendly soul and loved attending different events, parties, or celebrations where, at any moment, one could probably find her smiling, laughing, and sharing the joy that always seemed to flow out of her with others. Connie was a faithful woman of God who had a strong personal relationship with Jesus. She was regularly found at home reading the Bible and the daily devotions from the Daily Bread devotional. While she was away from work or church, you could often find her sharing a meal or enjoying an action movie with her beloved family. She deeply cared and prayed for every child, grandchild and great-grandchild that composed her large family. She is survived by her 5 children: Yolanda, Angelina, Emelina, Regina, and Fernando and their respective children and grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph. May she be remembered for her impressive resilience, abiding faith and relentless joy. A small virtual memorial service will be hosted by the family and Pastor Jessie Arce on January 16, 2021, at 7 PM via Zoom. Friends and family interested in attending the event should contact Regina Lopez for the meeting details. To send an online condolence, visit www.stranofeeley.com
