Dawn Amelia Stroup

May 23, 1969 - January 17, 2022

Dawn A. Stroup, age 52, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022. Dawn will always be remembered for her wild, rowdy, outgoing spirit. A one of a kind woman with a passionate soul, she possessed an energy that was overpowering at times, with a voice to match it. Her family and friends meant everything to her. She loved being social and making other people smile, which helped her be successful as an amazing bartender. Dawn loved the outdoors. Gardening and working in her yard brought her a peace of mind and being at the beach made her feel free. Dawn loved the holidays. Cooking for and spending time with her loved ones was pivotal. Halloween was her favorite. Dawn loved to sing and dance, music was important to her. She took so much pride in being a grandmother or as she liked to be called “Grammy”. Her grandchildren gave her a resurgence of youth and made her so happy. Whether it was a lifelong friendship or just a small amount of time, she impacted your life greatly and left you with an undeniable sense of love, comfort, and a little bit of crazy. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her. Dawn is survived by her children: Jesse Stroup, Douglas Phillips Jr., and Angela Goudeaux; grandchildren: Jesse Jr. and Maddox Stroup; father, Arnold Johnson; brothers: Alan Earnshaw and Earl Cliburn; sisters: Barbara Christopher and Tammy Johnson; sister in law Doris Earnshaw; she is also survived by her niece and nephews: Dawn, Brandon, and AJ. Dawn is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Johnson, and her children’s fathers, James Stroup and Oscar Goudeaux. Relatives, friends, loved ones, are all welcomingly invited to the viewing being held on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 from 6-7 PM at Strano and Feely Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road in Newark DE, where a service will be held at 7 PM.
