Francis (Frank) Anthony Cioci, age 79, died on August 21, 2021, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital from respiratory and heart failure after a long-fought struggle following several surgeries to address conditions arising from a stroke suffered 10 years prior. A loving husband and father, Frank was a generous man not only of his time but in his love and care for everyone he knew. Born in Wilmington to Valentina Costantini (Cioci) and Ercole Cioci, Frank graduated from Wilmington HS and entered into the Marine Corps serving 4 years as a communication specialist at Camp Lejeune, San Diego and Okinawa, Japan, until he was honorably discharged. Frank worked for the Postal Service as a clerk and time keeper for over 40 years both at the downtown Wilmington facility and the facility at Hares Corner. After retiring from the Post Office Frank worked part time at Royal Farms where he became a beloved employee of both the staff and the customers until his stroke in 2011. Ever the handy man, Frank and his wife, Bernice Mae Owens (Cioci), lived 25 years in their family home in Ivy Ridge, New Castle, DE, until they had their home in Smyrna, DE built in 1995. Over the 26 years they lived in their home in Smyrna, Frank and Bernice changed their 11 acre parcel into a garden spot of peace which they, their family and friends could enjoy. An avid reader, lover of westerns and kung fu movies, Frank’s favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, riding on his riding lawnmowers, watching NCIS on TV, eating out at buffets and traveling on vacation. Frank is survived by his Wife of 55 years, Bernice Mae Owens (Cioci); his three children: Bridgett Lorraine Ford (Cioci), Larry Randolph Cioci and Frank E. Cioci; Bridgett’s Husband Hosie Ford and their children Amber Lenninger (Ford), her husband John Lenninger and their daughter Zoe Lenninger; and Mathew Ford and Rayna Ford (Ruiz) and their daughter Charlene Ford; Frank’s wife Jennifer Fulk (Cioci), their daughters Meghan Cioci, Jessica DiRienzo (Cioci) and her husband Anthony DiRienzo, and Gabriella Cioci. Frank is also survived by his sister Frances Sheehan (Cioci), 12 direct nieces and nephews and their children and 10 nieces and nephews through marriage on his wife’s side and their children. Frank was predeceased by his parents Valentina and Ercole, his sisters Maria NeCastro (Cioci), Philomena Ruiz (Cioci), and Almerinda Dyer (Cioci). A viewing will be held on September 2, 2021, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road in Newark, DE where a celebration of Frank’s life will be follow at 11 AM. Interment start at 1:00 P.M. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE commencing with a military service.
