Franklin Delano Graves, Sr., age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022. Frank worked 51 years for New Castle County as the Head of Forestry. He had a heart of gold and loved making people smile. In his younger days, Frank enjoyed coaching little league, playing softball, and participating in a bowling league. Frank cherished his family, including the cats, and will be dearly missed. Frank is survived by his children: Eleanor “Mae” Kucharski, Franklin Graves Jr., Margaret “Peggy” Gregg, Joseph Graves (JoAnne), Richard Graves (Susan), and Madeline Haslam (Russell); 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Graves; son, Peter Graves; grandson, Joseph Graves; parents, Delbert and Helen Graves; and son-in-law, Drew Gregg. A visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2022, from 5:30-7 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Frank’s life at 7 PM. Burial will take place Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Gracelawn Memorial Park at 11 AM.
