Gerald P. Sweeny, Sr., age 72, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, March 5, 2022. Gerald was a 1968 graduate of Christiana High School. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Gerald was a dedicated employee of Artesian Water for 39 years. He was a talented musician and enjoyed all types of music. Gerald was a handyman around the house and especially enjoyed carpentry work. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Sweeny; son, Michael P. Sweeny; and daughter, Karen Fenestermacher. He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Sweeny Jr.; parents, Granville and Ruthanna Sweeny; and son-in-law, Jason Fenestermacher. Services and burial will be private. Donations may be sent in Gerald’s memory to Freewill Baptist Church, 409 Moores Lane, New Castle, DE 19720.
