Geraldine M. Deverell

August 7, 1942 - January 17, 2022

On the evening of January 17, 2022, Geraldine “Gerry” Marie Deverell, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at home surrounded by those she loved. Gerry was 79 years old. Inspired to make a difference in the lives of others, Gerry attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing while raising her three small children. Following her graduation in 1974, she worked for 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Christiana Care Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Unit where she shepherded newborns into the world and helped make families whole. Gerry was devoted to her family. She loved spending time at the beach with her parents, children, and grandchildren, and shopping with her daughters; she was very proud having four generations of women together on their outings. Gerry was an involved and doting grandmother, who never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandkids. An avid photographer, Gerry diligently documented the lives of her relatives using her camcorder and her assortment of cameras. As a young adult, Gerry enjoyed fishing, camping, and going to the Delaware beaches with her parents and siblings. Her love of being by the water persisted throughout her life; she frequently ventured to Annapolis, MD, Newport, RI, and to the Riverview Inn in New Jersey. Gerry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Gerry is survived by the love of her life, Harry Maucher; her children: Guy “Rusty” Sterlicchi, Cynthia Noble (Gary), and Rebecca Baag (Don); grandchildren: William Noble (Gemma), Alexandria Noble (Kristen), Evan Noble, Natalie Baag, and Caroline Baag; great-grandchild, Deacon; and siblings, Richard Deverell (Kay), and Diane Rafferty (Steve). She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Betsy Deverell. Gerry’s family would like to extend their unending gratitude to her caregiver, Doris Matthews who enabled Gerry to remain in her home throughout the course of her illness.
