Henry Olmstead Fry Jr.

December 1, 1949 - May 6, 2022

Henry Olmstead Fry, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2022. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 1, 1949, Henry was the son of Henry and Loretta Fry. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his siblings, Frank, Delores, and Loretta. Henry was deaf since birth. He attended Wilmington High School. As a young adult, Henry met his wife, Debra, who is also deaf, while attending First Baptist Church. After nine years, they were married. They had two children, and Henry worked most of his adult life for the Delaware Department of Transportation, driving equipment and keeping the public safe by assisting in road preparation when it snowed. In his early 50’s, Henry was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, which began to limit his activity. As the illness progressed, Henry ultimately was unable to leave home, except for the occasional visit to friends or relatives, or to sit in the park with his daughter. Home hospice cared for Henry the last several months of his life. Henry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debra, daughter Michelle Goleburn (Glen), son Matthew, grandchildren Thomas James Conway, Paul Goleburn, and Alyssa Goleburn, and great-granddaughter Violet. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, Newark, Delaware. The public is invited to attend a committal ceremony at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, Delaware, on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11 am.
