James "Jim" Pierce Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James William Pierce (Jimmy, Jim, JimJim) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, November 6, 2020. Jim was born December 16, 1986, in Elkton, MD. He attended Conrad Middle School in Wilmington, DE, and played both baseball and football when young. Jim graduated from McKean High School in Wilmington, DE in 2004. Following graduation, he received his HVAC certification and worked several part-time jobs concurrently. One of these jobs was for an arts and crafts retailer, where he met his future wife, Erin. Jim eventually landed at Hagley Museum, along the Brandywine Creek in Wilmington. Jim was employed full time at Hagley for the last fourteen years in the Preservation, Buildings and Grounds division as a Maintenance Technician. Jim loved the serene, beautiful grounds along the water, and knew the property like the back of his hand. Jim never missed a Sunday of football and was an avid New York Giants fan. He enjoyed fantasy football and was very competitive. He loved bowling, skateboarding, and disc golf. Jim played softball in many different adult leagues in New Castle County and formed a team with several of his closest friends. Jim was extremely clever, quick-witted, and mechanically inclined; he had been working toward earning a General Maintenance certification from Del-Tech. Jim was an amazing father and loved walking to the park, doing crafts, and playing sports and games with his daughters. Jim and Erin shared love of stand-up comedy, music, and playing poker. Jimmy is survived by his wife, and best friend, Erin; daughters, Riley Nicole and Skylar Paige; mother, Emily Celli Pierce; father, James K. Pierce (Celeste); sister, Samantha (Nate); grandmothers, Marie Dignan and Dolores Pierce; parents-in-law, Arthur ‘Chip’ Brobst Jr. and Michele Brobst; brother-in-law, Joseph Brobst (Jennifer); niece and nephew, Olivia and Alex; and a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and lifelong friends. Jim is predeceased by his grandfathers: William F. Celli, Lawrence A. Dignan, and James H. Pierce; and beloved family friend, Joseph L. Beck, Sr. Visitation will be held from 5:30pm – 7:00pm on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home in Newark, DE, with a memorial service to immediately follow. A Celebration of Jim’s Life and Spirit will be scheduled for a later date.
