Jean Bondurant Schooley

June 29, 1948 - January 21, 2022

Jean Bondurant Schooley passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Seasons Hospice in the Wilmington Hospital after a long illness. Jean was born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 29, 1948. She was a 1966 graduate of Wilmington High School. Jean was a loving and generous person who treated everyone like family. She was happy and funny and always ready with a witty comeback. Growing up she loved the family vacations in Wildwood, NJ in the summer, always the 2nd week of August. Many family members would go and rent apartments taking up 2 floors in the same building making it a family reunion of sorts. Jean worked in the plumbing supply business until 2016 when she retired from Bell Supply. She made many long-lasting friends who will miss her as much as her family will. Jean lost her husband Ron Schooley in 2012 and her beloved only child and daughter Jamie Episcopo in a tragic car accident in 2015. Jean was never the same after that. Jean is finally at peace now reunited with her beloved Jamie. In 2016, she made her home with her sister Sheila Chmiel (Ben). Jean is survived by her son-in-law, Gary Episcopo; a granddaughter who was the light of her life, Corrianna Episcopo; brother, James Bondurant (Alicia); nephew, James Bondurant; niece, Sydney Bondurant; nephews, Benjamin Chmiel, III and Douglas Chmiel (Gina); aunts, Marian Pollack and Elsie Wolhar; and too many cousins and their children to name individually. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 6-7 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Jean’s life at 7 PM. We ask that everyone please wear a mask for protection. Burial will be private at a later date when she will be interred with her husband, Major Ronald Schooley in the Veterans Cemetery.
