Joshua William Gatrell Sr. of Newark, DE passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 45. Josh was born on December 20, 1976, in Wilmington, DE, the son of Charles Gatrell and Diane Devine. As a young boy and into adulthood, he enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and football. Josh graduated from Christiana High School where he was active on the wrestling team. He loved watching and attending Eagles and Phillies games, going to NASCAR races in Dover, jet skiing, bowling, and drawing. In his early adult years, Josh enjoyed coaching soccer and baseball. He continued to coach from the sidelines when his children, nieces, and nephews were involved. Josh also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Josh will be deeply missed by his father Charles Gatrell and his wife Elizabeth; his mother, Diane Devine and her husband Tony; his daughter, Kayla Roark-Gatrell; his son, Joshua Gatrell Jr.; maternal grandmother, June Wyatt and her husband Greg; brother, Steven Lahman and his wife Dawn; sister, Marybeth Gatrell and her fiancé Marty; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family. Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Madelin Gatrell; paternal aunt, Gail Roesinger; maternal grandfather , Douglas Lahman; maternal uncle, Christopher Lahman,; and maternal aunt, Becky Lahman. The family would like to thank family and friends for their thoughts, prayers and, support during this difficult time, and a special thank you to Dr. Choi and his team at Christiana Hospital for the care and compassion they provided to Josh.
