Leo Edward Kampmann, age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home Friday, March 25, 2022. Leo was a devoted husband, dad, and pop-pop who loved spending quality time with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching his son in sports and umping his daughter's softball games.. Pool parties at Pat and Rick's house and holiday celebrations were a big part of the family get-togethers. He loved to cook being well-known for his potato salad. Leo graduated from Dover High School. He went on to be a barber for several years and continued for 35 years at Pepsi as a driver until he retired. Leo liked fishing, playing softball, cruising, and vacationing in Cancun. He was an avid reader and also cheered for all the Philadelphia sports teams as well as for Notre Dame Football. The family would love to thank his various doctors, nurses, therapists, and aides who made his life comfortable over the last few years. Leo will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dawn Kampmann; son, Scott Kampmann (Jennifer); daughter, Dianna Kampmann; grandchildren, Zachary and Emma; brothers, John Kampmann and Frank Kampmann (Carolyn); sister, Josephine Winger; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Kampmann; and parents, Frank and Stansleal Kampmann. Services and burial will be private.
