Paula Long Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On July 16, 2022, Paula Long moved from the land of the dying to the land of the living, to a new home up in Glory. She would love to have you visit. Paula was born June 3, 1940, in Hartsville, TN, about 40 miles NE of Nashville. Her father died when she was six weeks old. Paula moved to several cities and eventually finished her Jr. and Sr. years of high school in Nazareth, PA. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and registered as a nurse in 1961. During her studies she met George “Terry” Long and they were married in 1961. They lived first in Williamsport, PA, and then moved to Columbus, OH, where they had Karen, and then almost two years later, Chris. The family moved to Lancaster, PA, and there Julie was added to the family. There were stops in Winston-Salem, NC and York, PA. It was in York that there were other births, not of flesh but of the Spirit - the family became Christians. They moved to DE in 1980. Paula worked part time as an RN in several hospitals and doctors’ offices while raising the children. In DE she became a full time school nurse and enjoyed working with the elementary children. After retirement, Paula attended several Bible studies up to her final move to heaven. She volunteered for a time at the hospital in the ER, Meals on Wheels, and other community organizations. Her last volunteer service was with the Sunday Breakfast Mission and Christmas Shoeboxes with Samaritan’s Purse. Paula will be sadly missed by her husband of 60 years, Terry; children, Karen Long, Christopher Long, Julie Lengkeek (Kevin); and grandchildren: Erin Galati (Chris), Ben Lengkeek, and Meggie Lengkeek. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 10-11 AM at Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 followed by a memorial service in celebration of Paula’s life at 11 AM.
