Rhonda S. Tyson
February 5, 1970 - February 10, 2022
An obituary the length of a Marcel Proust novel could never truly describe the marvelous, free-spirited, comical person that Rhonda Tyson was. But I will try my best to give you an excerpt of who she was. Rhonda S. Tyson, age 52, of Smyrna, DE passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022. She was a loving wife, mamabear, and friend to many. Rhonda was born to the late Elaine and Donald Silver in Berwick, PA. Her personality was larger than life, joyous, kind, and loud, loud, so loud. It was impossible to ever forget her, and trust me, you won't. Rhonda started her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and later earned two Master’s degrees in Business and Informatics from Strayer University and Capella University. She was a big fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, New England Patriots, and Philadelphia Wings. She was so passionate, ridiculous, and fiery that she boycotted hockey for a time due to the Rod Brind’amour trade. An avid reader, she loved to dive into the world of Hogwarts, mystery novels, and any book that a movie or show was based on. She was the Foo Fighters BIGGEST fan, loved to go on cruises, and vacations with family - particularly to Canada and Walt Disney World. Rhonda thrived on social interaction, she was always moving, exploring new things, and making new friends everywhere she went. Her one-of-a-kind, boisterous cackle would kick off a domino effect of laughter from everyone else in her vicinity, even when they didn’t get the joke. While typically always on the move, she also loved relaxing at home with her family, such as binge-watching Gilmore Girls with her daughter five thousand times or watching Big Brother with her husband (How many seasons are we at? 523?). Her generosity was evidenced by countless hours volunteering for the Crisis Text Line, raising money, and participating in overnight walks for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and countless animal rescues. She was a fierce warrior for pit bulls and rescue dogs, especially her own - Ringo, Ozzy, and Scooby. She will be incredibly missed and will live on in our laughs, smiles, and charitable acts - or else she may come back to haunt us. She was eccentric like that. Rhonda is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Matt W. Tyson; her daughter Cabyn Montefusco (Peter and 5 grandkitties); her brother, William Silver (Lisa); her sister, Donna Fisher (Wade); her best friend of 42 years, Karen Stover (Ed); as well as family she loved and gained through marriage: her late father-in-law, Donald Tyson; her mother-in-law, Sherian Angeli (and the late Glenn); in-laws: Donna Kline (Larry), Ken Tyson (Connie), Kimber Tyson Sr (Lyndee), Chuck Tyson (Rose) and Gregg Tyson; and a cavalcade of her nieces and nephews: Tyler (Kayla), Stephanie, Corrina, Brittany, Luke, Amanda Nicole (Jared), Amanda Sue, Ashleigh, Sabrina (Pete), Katrina (Jon), Kimber Jr., Zane (Megan), Jocelyn (Alan), Nicole (Joey), and Britney. A Celebration of Life service, where we will dance and party as Rhonda did, will be held at a future date with details to follow.
