Richard J. Suda Jr.

August 9, 1955 - April 10, 2021

Richard J. Suda, Jr., age 65, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on April 10, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. Richard graduated from Sun Valley High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. He was in the First Calvary and stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Serving his country was such a big honor for Richard and he was very proud to serve the country he loved. After his time in the Army he went on to work as a heavy equipment operator for 43 years. Richard was a hard worker and loved going to work with Keith and Gary Reeves and his brother-in-law Bob. He had many hobbies including softball, hunting, and fishing. One of his favorite places to fish was Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, DE. Eating blue crabs and drinking beer with family and friends meant a lot and a lot of great memories were made. Richard was a great photographer and enjoyed taking pictures. He loved listening to music and was a good dancer with some smooth moves. He enjoyed meeting up with his late father-in-law every week to go bowling. Watching any Philly sports teams was always enjoyable, especially watching Eagle’s games with his grandsons. Seeing the Eagles win the Superbowl was such a special moment for Richard. He always encouraged his grandchildren to do their best in sports and was a proud grandfather. Joking with his grandkids, who thought he was hysterical, was always amusing and put a smile on everyone’s faces. Richard was a very generous person and would do anything for anyone. An example of this is at the beginning of Covid-19 when Richard donated money for the residents and staff at a local nursing home so they could buy delicious meals and donuts and other snacks to boost morale. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughters, Candice Suda (Matthew Brooks) and Tara Suda; grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, Sophia, and Ava; and sisters, Valerie Mann and Patti Tate; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Holland; and brother, David Suda. Services will be private. To send an online condolence please visit www.stranofeeley.com.
