Stanley C. Dickerson

May 5, 1938 - November 25, 2021

Stanley Clyde Dickerson (Poppi), age 83, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 25th at Christiana Care from COVID, with his loving wife, Betty, son, Mike and daughter, Donna by his side. He was born May 5th, 1938, in Raysel, West Virginia, the son of James W. Dickerson and Ida Stanley. In addition to his parents, Stan is predeceased by his twin brother, Finley Clay Dickerson, who died at birth; brother, James W Dickerson, Jr of Price, Utah, and brother, Harold Dickerson of Richmond, Virginia. Survivors: Joanne (Powell) Hess of Bridgewater, Virginia, Yvonne (Max) Franklin of Appomattox, Virginia Gerome (Lucille) Dickerson of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Stan is survived by his high school sweetheart, Betty Edwards, of Garrett Road in Todd Estates II. Stan and Betty celebrated 62 years of marriage this past June. He is also survived by his son, Michael (Lydia) Dickerson; daughters; Donna Dickerson Bailey, Bettina (Donald) Lamson; and 9 grandchildren: Alexandria Dickerson, Wesley Dickerson, Colby (Allysa) Dickerson, Kyle (Niki) Bailey, Margot (Jesse) Betts, Madeline Bailey, Lauren Lamson, Courtney (Chandler) Campbell and Evan Lamson. Stan graduated from Pocahontas High School in Pocahontas, Virginia. He then went on to graduate from Baptist Bible College in Elkton, Maryland with a degree in Theology. In 1959 Stan started working at Chrysler Assembly Corporation in Newark, Delaware, where he worked to provide a loving and comfortable home for his family in Whitehall, New Castle, Delaware. Stan was a Godly man, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior December 29th, 1969, Stan served the Lord his entire adult life. His life and ministry impacted thousands and thousands of people. During his short illness many people called the family to tell stories of how Stan helped them in some way. Stan served God at Temple Baptist Church, Pike Creek Baptist Temple, Fairwinds Baptist Church, Whispering Pines Baptist Church where he pastored for 20 years, and then on to Victory Baptist Church, Fellowship Baptist Church and most recently Riverside Baptist Church. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM and again Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road in Newark where a celebration of Stan’s life will be held at 10:30 AM.
