Tanya Schariss Ballou, age 45, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 28, 2022. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Tanya came to Delaware in 2002. She graduated from William Penn High School in Philadelphia and went on to earn two Bachelor’s degrees in Social work and Nuclear Medicine Technology from Temple and Thomas Jefferson Universities. If you knew Tanya you were Truly Blessed. At 5'1 and "a half" Tanya was larger than life. As a child Tanya's favorite character was Wonder Woman, often wearing her costume well beyond Halloween, as an adult Tanya was Wonder Woman. Tanya was a Strong and Intelligent woman who didn't stand for any nonsense. Tanya loved to cook and host events for friends and family, she loved to dance often the last person to leave the dance floor. Tanya also loved to travel and took many vacations, she loved her girls trips such as their trips to Ibiza, St Thomas and Barbados during Carnival. With Family she visited Hawaii, Cancun, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Punta Cana, and the Dominican Republic just to name a few. Tanya was an Extraordinary Wife, Mother and Overall Woman and she will be deeply missed by many. Tanya is survived by her loving husband, Francois Ballou; children: Timani, Joshua, and Joseph; mother, Rosemary Britton; father, Jeffrey Fisher; a brother and sisters; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents,Rufus and Annie Mae Britton. A visitation will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, from 9-10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd., Bear, DE 19701 followed by a service in celebration of Tanya's life at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
