Vincent Luke Strano, Sr.

Vincent Luke Strano Sr., age 62, of Elkton, MD, formerly of New Castle, DE went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2016. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devoted service. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of all who knew him. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Joseph and Carmela Strano, Vince learned his work ethic by working with his father in the family grocery store. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and went on to attend Brandywine College and McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Vince worked for several Delaware funeral homes before partnering with Joseph Feeley to open Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, fulfilling his lifelong dream of ministering to grieving families. Vince was well respected and had many close friendships in the funeral industry. He served as past president of the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association. Vince often credited God, his mentor Charlie Schiavo, and his business partner for his success. In typical humble fashion, Vince downplayed his own enormous role of being a consummate professional with a tremendous work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. Vince’s professional legacy will live on in the efforts of his staff, the many people he mentored, and the families he served over the years. Vince was a dedicated follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and attended Cornerstone Ministries Church. His outlook on life was one of gratitude - he often looked around and said, “I’m so blessed!” He lived out his faith in action by serving the community in a myriad of ways. Vince served as a Boy Scout leader, a baseball coach and an umpire in Suburban Little League and was active in the West End Neighborhood House and previously served as a board member. He was also active in the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and held offices of president and treasurer. Vince had many hobbies including playing the accordion, fishing, golfing, and photography. He loved a host of pets over the years, and considered his dogs as part of the family. He was proud to have been a member of the first University of Delaware Men’s Ice Hockey Club Team. Vince was an entrepreneur who worked tirelessly at Strano Sub Shop, and in real estate ventures as well as in the funeral industry. He was a kind, generous, honorable man, and a practical joker with a great sense of humor. Vince was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was time spent with his loving wife, their children and grandchildren. Countless weekends and holidays were spent with extended family and friends gathered at their home with much food, music, and laughter. All were welcomed with loving arms. Vince cherished family vacations in Italy, Puerto Rico, and Camp Tockwogh. He was very proud of his family and counted their accomplishments as the true measure of his own success. Vince is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lucia; his three sons: Joseph A. Strano and his wife, Ashley, Vincent L. Strano Jr. and his wife, Jaime, and Matthew L. Strano; his precious grandchildren, Vincent Luke III, Giovanni James, and Sophia Grace; his sister, Nancy Strano; sisters-in-law, Anna Marie and Beatrice DiNatale; brothers-in-law, Guido (Linda) and Aldo (Rose Ann) DiNatale; nephews: Gian Bonetti (Margaret Henn) and Dino DiNatale (Kathryn); family friend, Marie Cella Betts; many treasured Albano, DeFlaviis, and DiDonato cousins and their extended families; and the staff of Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14 from 4-7 PM at Glasgow Church, 2880 Summit Bridge Rd, Bear, DE 19701 followed by a service in celebration of Vince’s life at 7 PM.
