Arlene Mayfield, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. Her tranquil departure marks the end of a life lived with love, joy and family. Arlene was born and raised in Clairton, Pennsylvania, lovingly raised by her grandparents, Christianna and Henry Henrich, who instilled in her the values of hard work, resilience, and compassion. As a young girl, Arlene attended Clairton High School. Shortly after graduating, she fell in love with Robert Mayfield, the man who would become her devoted husband. Their union was a testament to their love and partnership, and together, they began their family in Pennsylvania. Arlene and Robert shared a deep bond that was evident to all who knew them. As they started their family, Arlene poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and nurturing home for their children. The Mayfield family later moved to Delaware, where Arlene continued to be the pillar of strength for her family. She balanced her responsibilities with grace, working in retail and eventually retiring from Sears Hardware after decades of dedicated service. Her work ethic and commitment were admired by her colleagues and customers alike. Arlene was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a woman of many talents and interests. She was an excellent cook and baker, known for her delicious meals and treats that brought joy to family gatherings on Sundays, holidays, and celebrations. Arlene had a strong desire to keep the family close, connected and loved. She had a passion for swimming, bowling, and game nights with family and friends. Arlene found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing cards, solving crossword puzzles and word searches, and watching good movies. Her enthusiasm for these activities brought her closer to her loved ones and enriched their lives. Arlene was a wonderful mother who delighted in her children and her home. She provided unwavering love, support, and practical assistance to her children, always putting their needs above her own. Her love was unconditional, and she cherished every moment spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter were the light of her life. She treasured every phone call, every visit, and every gathering, finding immense joy in the treasured memories they created together. Arlene's love and devotion to her family were evident in everything she did. Arlene is survived by her three children: daughters, Joyce Brackin and Debbie Mayfield, and son, Robert Mayfield Jr. (JoAnne Mayfield). She is also survived by her four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, and extended family. Her loving husband, Robert Mayfield Sr., her sister Dolores, and her granddaughter Angela preceded Arlene in death. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the Delaware Hospice team. Her legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Arlene. You will be deeply missed and always remembered. A private service will be held for the family to honor Arlene's life and legacy.
