Ashley L. Varell

Ashley L. Varell, age 40, of Delaware, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 18, 2025. Born on March 4, 1985, Ashley was a devoted mother, beloved daughter and granddaughter, cherished sister, aunt, and loyal friend to many. She lived a life full of love, faith, and purpose, leaving a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know her. Ashley had a heart that made others feel seen, loved, and at home. She was a second mom to so many, especially the youth group kids at First Baptist Church of Delaware, guiding them with patience, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her Bible was always close by, a reflection of the deep spiritual life she led and the comfort she found in God’s word. A true nurturer, Ashley expressed her love through incredible cooking, her warm hospitality, and her joyful spirit. Every holiday was a celebration full of laughter, light, and thoughtful touches that made each moment so magical. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, whether relaxing at the beach, breathing in the peace of the mountains, or enjoying the wonder of Disney and amusement parks with those she loved. Above all else, Ashley was a proud and loving mother. Her children were her world, and she poured her heart into raising them with strength, grace, and endless love. Ashley is survived by the love of her life, Billy; her parents Robert Varell (Geri) and Rhonda Langley (Jeff); her grandparents Vern and Astra Grams; her children Lauren (Donte), Josh, and Carson; and her siblings Britney (Kenny), Casey (Joe), Alec, Devon, Connor (Paige), Liz (Perry), Robbie (Erika), and Scott. She also leaves behind her family, her church family, and countless friends who will carry her memory forward. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bob and Joanne Varell. Ashley deeply loved her nieces and nephews — Shane, Jacob, Everleigh, Joey, Owen, and Hailey. Ashley’s life was a reflection of God’s love; genuine, generous, and overflowing. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and the light she brought into the world will never fade. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 3 PM at the First Baptist Church of Delaware, 901 E. Basin Road in New Castle, where a memorial service will be held at 4 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Delaware in Ashley’s memory.
