In Loving Memory of Darla Kay Vickery (née Fraim) May 22, 1954 – June 10, 2025 With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Darla K. Vickery, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born at Crozer-Chester Hospital, she was raised in Upland, PA, and North Wilmington, DE, graduating from Concord High School with the Class of 1972. Darla dedicated her life to caring for others, attending nursing school in Delaware and spending many years providing home care and serving at Kendall Crosslands Communities. Later, she brought her dedication to the Delaware Art Museum, where she served as Head of Facilities until her retirement. She is survived by Danielle and John Zeszut, Dennis Jr and Tina, and Daniel Sr and Megan; sister to Monnarae; and a loving grandmother to Jocelyn, Bailey, Daniel Jr, Nicholas, Olivia, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Braiden, Audrianna, and Caiden. Her role as a great-grandmother to Novalee, Dalton, Sophia, and DJ was one she embraced with immense love. Darla’s kindness extended beyond her immediate family—she was a guiding force for nieces, nephews, friends, and the many children who grew up in Browntown, Wilmington, whom she treated as her own. Also survived by Kevin F. Kelley Sr and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis “Hutch” Vickery Sr.; her parents, Joyce Fraim (née Cummings) and Robert Fraim; and her sister Suzanne Fraim, Darla leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, resilience, and unwavering love. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures - gardening, crafting, baking, sewing - and shared a special bond with her husband, filling their days with laughter. Music was her constant companion; Rod Stewart, Elton John, The Beatles - especially John Lennon - held a special place in her heart. Her deep love for Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks was passed down through generations, their melodies forever woven into the memories of those she loved. Her nurturing spirit lives on in the everyday moments - monkey bread or lasagna, board games, and the childhood magic she helped create. She was the heart of her family, the steady presence of love and strength. Her perseverance, generosity, and unconditional care will be cherished always. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on June 19, 2025 from 6pm – 8pm at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. There will be a remembrance ceremony the following day June 20,2025 at 10am at Christ the Cornerstone Church, 6 Clifton Avenue, Elsmere, DE 19805. Food and refreshments will follow at 1pm.
