Elizabeth "Betty" Eaton Robbins

Elizabeth Eaton Robbins, age 92, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023. Betty was born in 1930 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Helen Ferguson and Lewis Eaton. Her mother was the first female architect to graduate from Carnegie Mellon Institute, and her father was a graduate of the Wharton School of Business. Betty is pre-deceased by her two sisters, Edith and Evie, who were also strong-willed and driven women. Betty attended Stephen's College in St. Louis before transferring to the University of Florida, where she met her future husband, Bartow Robbins, on a blind date. They both had lost sight in one eye when they were young, which adds an interesting twist to their meeting. They were proud Gators. She married Bart in 1952, and together had 2 children, Tucker and Randall. As a real estate agent starting in 1967, Betty was one of the first dynamic women to enter the field and eventually became a top realtor in the state for decades, co-founding White Robbins Real Estate, and becoming a leading role model for many women. She was also a principal in developing many communities, including Fairthorne, Barley Mill Courts, Limestone Hills, Mendenhall Village and Back Creek, in which she took great pride. Betty was a positive thinker, and her cup was always half-full. She was a persuasive person who convinced her son Tucker to change careers, move to Delaware, and join her at White Robbins, where they were a team for 30 years. She was also often seen in the courtroom watching her other son, Randall, a lawyer. She is survived by Tucker (Carol Arnott), Randall (Nancy) grandsons Graham, Spencer (Caitlin) and great granddaughters Kennedy and Harper. In addition to her professional achievements, Betty loved to travel and had a beach house in Lewes where her family would gather. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother and was beloved by all who knew her. Overall, Betty lived a full and successful life, and her legacy lives on through her family and the communities she helped develop. While her passing is certainly a loss for those who knew her, her life is worth celebrating and remembering with humor and joy. Services and burial will be private.
