Felicita Perez Crespo Burgos

Felicita Perez Crespo Burgos, age 73, went home to the Lord on April 16, 2023. Felicita was born in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico to the late Felix Perez Cintron and Julia Perez-Crespo. Her family moved to Delaware in the late 1950’s. Felicita attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and graduated from Brown Vocational in 1967. A woman who always believed in working, Felicita worked at St. Francis Hospital followed by a 15-year career in banking with WSFS. Felicita also worked at the Delaware River and Bay Authority for many years. In her last employment stint, Felicita became an owner and operator of the Enterprise Guest House in Ocean City, NJ. This was most enjoyable for her as she was able to work alongside her beloved husband Julio and her kids. Felicita believed it was important to be an active member within her community. As such, she served as a past vice president and president of the Ms. Hispanic Pageant of Delaware. Whether in Delaware or back in Puerto Rico, Felicita was always involved too within her church. She was active within prayer groups and service projects. She was most proud to be part of the Legio Maria service group at her church in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. After many years of work and service, Felicita and Julio retired to enjoy the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico with their extended family. Felicita was a kind and fun-loving woman who was devoted to her loved ones. She was a great cook who often opened her home to entertain and play dominoes with family and friends. Whether bragging about her children or “cutting a rug on the dance floor”, this beautiful, classy, well-dressed lady freely shared her gifts of joy, love, and laughter with all she knew. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Felicita is survived by her children: Juan Alberto Burgos Jr.(Tania), Carmelita Thompson (Marcus) Her step-children Lisa Burgos, Jeanine Burgos-Nelson and Julio Burgos and; her sisters: Gladys Gonzalez (Danny) and Esther Perez; her brothers: Mario Matos (Lucy), Emilio Matos (Angela), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Felicita was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Julio; her son, Almando Burgos; her sisters: Clotilde Charries (Alejandro)and Juana Matos; her brothers: William Perez, Pedro Matos (Anna Lydia), Felix Perez Jr.(Maria Milagro), and Federico Matos(Carmine). Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, May 10 from 5-7 PM at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702. A time of prayer and sharing will follow at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, May 11 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1010 West Fourth St., Wilmington, DE 19805. Burial will take place at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
