Gloria Dumas D'Amico

Gloria Dumas D’Amico, born December 20, 1931, in Warren, Massachusetts, was the beloved daughter of Blanche LaPalm Dumas and Edward Dumas. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 She was known for her beauty, her generous heart, and her gifts in the kitchen as an exceptional cook and baker. Her cherished Sunday family dinners created lasting memories, and her thoughtful gift-giving brought joy to all who knew her. Gloria met her beloved husband, Gene, while he was playing the saxophone in the Air Force band. Captivated by her beauty from across the room, their love story began. They married, and she moved first to Pennsylvania, later settling in Bear, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her son-in-law, Mose; and her beloved siblings, Connie Senez, Jeanett Mansfield, Donald Dumas, and Estelle Beauregard. She is survived by her loving family: her children Gene (Ellyn), Becky, and Marcy; her grandchildren Marcus Sr. (Emilie), Nikki (Matthew), Michael (Brittany), and Cara; and her eight great-grandchildren, Marcus Jr., Bennett, Layne, Olivia, James, Haley, Lillie, and Callum. Gloria was often unintentionally comical—playing her favorite piece, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” on the piano while improvising along the way, and calling family members one by one in an earnest panic if she couldn’t find the Phillies game. A devoted fan, she rarely missed watching her beloved team. She will be remembered in Sunday dinners, in the voices of family gathered close, in the crack of a Phillies bat—and somewhere, always, over the rainbow. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Ada Torres for the loving care and compassion shown to Gloria and her family. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9-10 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd., Bear, DE 19701 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or VITAS Hospice.
