Harold Warren Freeman Jr.

Harold W. Freeman, Jr., age 81, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, January 3, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. He was born on June 4, 1944, in Chatta County, Georgia, to the late Birdell Bush Freeman and Harold W. Freeman, Sr. Harold received his education through the New York City Public School System. At the age of 17, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, where he proudly dedicated 28 years of honorable service. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was stationed in numerous locations and ports around the world. In his younger years, Harold found joy in riding and owning his Harley-Davidson Chopper, camping with his children, and traveling abroad. As life progressed, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his wife, Judy—the love of his life. Harold also deeply enjoyed jazz music, a fine cognac, and meaningful moments with family, especially cherishing time spent with his grandchildren. Harold leaves his love and legacy to be cherished by his daughters: Joy Freeman Ridley, Stacy Freeman, Coby Freeman, and Meagan MyCroft; his sons: Harold Freeman III, (Kendalle), Taj Freeman (Loretta), and Terron Freeman; thirteen grandchildren, Jordi Nguyen (Maurice), Kellie Brooks (Demiko), Kelvin Brooks, Jr, Corben Johnson, Lorenzo Turner III, Ashae Freeman, Che Freeman, Bianca Freeman, Harold Freeman II, Haley Williams, Tyler MyCroft, Ariana MyCroft, and Marcus MyCroft; and host of great grandchildren. Moreover, he will be missed by his favorite and devoted nephew, Derek Matthews; his devoted cousin, Eva McKeithan; his Sister-In-Law, Kathy Eichholz; and caring lifelong friends: Robert Matthews, Wilbur Bell, Dearald Queen, Robert Tonachel, Joyce Henson, Hilary Johnson, Janice Henshaw, Cheryl Tilton, Elizabeth Thompson, Dave Borso, Felcia and Coralee Brown; a caring and devoted neighbor, William Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold W. Freeman, Sr., and Birdell Bush Freeman; his beloved wife, Judith Freeman; his cherished granddaughter, Bre Johnson; and several close friends, including Anthony Barnes, Earl Chandler, and Howard Johnson Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 3PM – 4PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. A celebration of life service will follow at 4PM.
