Joel Adolph Brown

Joel Adolph Brown, son of George and Lucy Brown (both deceased), was born in Henderson, North Carolina on March 12, 1950. Shortly thereafter they moved to Philadelphia, in the section of North Philadelphia. He was educated in the Philadelphia School System which he attended Edison High School. Then his mother and father felt the need to enroll him in the Navy, in August 1969. After he was discharged from the Navy, he started another part of his life where he attended a Vocational School as a Security Specialist, which he mastered and led to a career for many years. He also had many skills such as drawing, photography, making people laugh, barbecuing ,bike riding, and had a love for people ,and his pets Percious and pain in the neck Cookie. He was also known for his outstanding dress. People in the neighborhood who knew him as a young adult would say to his wife Anita “HE WAS ALWAYS A SHARP DRESSER”, and he was best known for wearing his HATS. People who live in the neighborhood would sit on their steps and wait for Joel to come walking down the street with his OUTSTANDING STROLL. Then he would speak to everyone who was sitting on the steps. He was a true gentleman at an early age. He was always helping the elderly ones in the neighborhood with their groceries and assisted them if they needed a ride home from the Food Market and the Bank called PSFS. Joel and Anita met in the year 1994 while she was visiting her friends in Roxborough. And he layed his eyes on Anita, and the rest is “HISTORY.” In the year 1996, that’s when Anita Louise Clark’s name changed to Anita Louise Brown. They both were the love of each other’s life. Outside of their children. After their children were grown, they both loved to travel, and they both complemented each other with their dress and their personalities. But the best year of his life is when he dedicated himself to Jehovah God and symbolized it by water baptism Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Liacouras Center on Broad Street in Philadelphia, PA. 19130 They both loved the Field Ministry, love talking to people and helping people with material needs. But most of all sharing the Good News about God’s Kingdom and the last days of Joel’s life he did just that. Joel peacefully fell asleep in death on Wednesday, July 26th, 2023, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. His son Dontel and daughter Christina proceeded him in death. He leaves to affectionately cherish his memory his loving, generous, and kind wife Anita Louise Brown, daughter Teres Strange and her husband Vincent, daughters Tamika and her husband Walter Smith, Khadijah (known as Dee), and sons William and Malik. Six grandsons, Two granddaughters, Five great grandsons, one great granddaughter and one great great grandson and a host of relatives and countless friends and spiritual family who loved and deeply will miss him. A memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2101 Red Lion Road, Bear, Delaware 19701.
