John J. Baranowski

John J. “Butch” Baranowski, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 2, 2026. Born on April 18, 1936, John lived a life defined by faith, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to his family. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life centered on caring for and providing for those he loved. Family was always his highest priority, and he took great pride in being present for the moments that mattered most. He found great joy in attending his sons’ softball games and later cheering on his grandson at his ball games. A lifelong sports enthusiast, John was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and 76ers. He faithfully read his daily newspaper, especially the sports section, and enjoyed keeping up with the teams he followed throughout his life. John loved playing softball and was proud to coach his sons and grandsons, sharing his love of the game along with lessons of teamwork and dedication. John always treasured the visits from his granddaughters, enjoying every moment they spent together. John had a strong interest in history and was a proud history buff. He was deeply patriotic and held great respect for his country and its heritage. In his leisure time, he found peace and satisfaction in vegetable and flower gardening. He also enjoyed polka music and dancing, which brought him happiness and fond memories. Family traditions were especially meaningful to John, including the annual trips to Knoebel’s Amusement Park, which he attended every year with his family. These trips created lasting memories and reflected his belief that time spent together was the greatest gift. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Baranowski; his grandson and Mark Baranowski‘s son, Andrew Nicholas Baranowski; and his granddaughter and Michael Baranowski‘s daughter, Jennifer Baranowski He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret “Jane” Baranowski; his sons, John Baranowski, Michael Baranowski and his wife Michele, Mark Baranowski and his wife Amy, Stanley Baranowski and his wife Kimberly, David Baranowski and his wife Maria, and Robert Baranowski and his wife Shirley; his brother, Charles Pita; his sister, Frances Legman; and his close cousin, Pete Lisinski and his wife, Joan. He is also survived by, nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; extended family members; and many dear friends. Services will be held on January 13, 2026, at Fairwinds Baptist Church, 801 Seymour Road, Bear, Delaware 19701. Public viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Highway, New Castle, Delaware 19720. John’s life was a testament to faith, dedication, and unconditional love for his family. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the values he instilled.
