Joyce Mabel Morgan

Joyce Mabel Morgan, age 62, of Rising Sun, MD went home to the Lord on June 30, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Vera and Vernon Meier. Joyce was a strong Christian and loved sharing her faith, kindness, and joy with family and friends. Throughout her life, Joyce established a foundation for Christ in the lives of her children as well as each grandchild she was blessed to love. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana and had many treasured, lifelong friendships. Joyce loved spending time with her family, gardening and being outdoors. She was active in her church and lived with passion and purpose. Joyce was a prayer warrior and lifted many needs for others to the Lord. How beautiful that this faithful servant of the Lord was escorted into Heaven as family prayed at her side. No doubt she was greeted there with the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Joyce will be greatly missed. Her legacy of love and joy will live on in the many lives she touched. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Gary T. Morgan; her children: Jeffrey C. Morgan (Caitlin), Jeremy T. Morgan, Jill Hendershot (Cody), and Jordan G. Morgan (Latasha); 9 precious grandchildren: Marcelo, Ace, Roxie, Rylie Lou, Cannon, Joshua, Daniel, Khalani, and Tyson and her siblings: Ronald Meier (Robin), David Meier (Lisa), and her twin, Joan Thorp (Wade); brother-in-law, Joseph Morgan, sister-in-law, Donna Rinehimer (Richie). In addition to her parents, Vera and Vernon Meier, Joyce was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Bernice Morgan and her son-in-law, Stephen Swillum III. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 4-6 PM on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Word of Life Christian Center, 854 S. Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702. An additional viewing will take place at the church on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 10-11 AM with a service in celebration of Joyce’s life to be held at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Word of Life Christian Center for their missions program.
