Lily Brooke Ruiz

Lily Brooke Ruiz, age 9, of Middletown, Delaware, was scooped up in the arms of Jesus and carried home on May 31, 2024. Spunky in spirit and with a continuous heart full of love, she entered the Kingdom of Heaven where she will live in joy, free of cancer and pain. She will giggle and run and swim and dance and most of all, praise Jesus. Lily was undoubtedly welcomed warmly by her Uncle Danny and great grandparents as part of the grand reunion that the Bible promises. From the day Lily was born she brought an absolute abundance of joy to her family. Every photo and video of Lily is a testament to how she shined, showering love and spreading joy wherever she went. She was a sweet and funny girl, loved animals, especially cats and bunnies, and anything sparkling with bling. Lily loved singing and dancing, dress shopping for her Daddy Daughter dances, and her collection of stuffed animals. She could often be seen sporting her beautiful dangling earrings just because she wanted to feel fancy, it was just the way she rolled. Her grace and joyous spirit while battling Leukemia had an impact on everyone who was blessed to be with her. Family, classmates, friends from church, and Lily’s care teams at Nemours Children’s Hospital and Delaware Hospice were forever changed by this rare and beautiful soul. Lily often expressed her love for family and friends. She also poured out her love for Jesus as she sang worship songs. Her whole body rejoiced in His promises. Lily had a strong bond with her big brothers and little sisters. She drew out the best in everyone. Lily was born right in the middle of her family and was surrounded by love on all sides all the days of her precious life. Her parents, siblings, extended family, and friends will forever cherish Lily as the gift and miracle that God gave them. Lily is survived by her parents, Jacquelyn and Timothy Ruiz; her brothers, Ryan and Tommy; her sisters, Savannah and Annabelle; great grandmother, Lidie Cavanaugh; grandparents: John and Jody Hammond, Arthur Ruiz, and Elisa Pirollo; aunts and uncles: Dr. Michael and Stephanie McDonald, Cassie Hammond, Matthew Hammond, and Gabby Ruiz; cousins: Emma, Caden, and Connor McDonald, and Johnny Ruiz; along with a host of extended family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9:30 to 11 AM at LifeHouse Church, 101 Karins Blvd., Townsend, DE 19734. A service in celebration of Lily’s life will follow at 11 AM. Burial will take place privately at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
