Lolita G. Veasey

Lolita G. Veasey, age 78, of Wilmington, DE, transitioned to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021. She was born on December 3, 1942, in Salem, NJ to the late Francis Wilmer Gross Sr., and Margaret (nee Bruce) Gross. Lolita graduated from James Groves Adult High School and later went on to graduate from Delaware Technical Community College with an Associates Degree in Health and Human Services. Lolita held a variety of jobs ranging from her first job at Tanzer’s Grocery to working in the nursery of St, Francis Hospital maternity ward, and ultimately retiring from Hercules, Inc. Lolita was a faith-filled follower of Christ. She served faithfully as the head of the deaconess board at F.I.G.H.T for Families Fellowship Church under the direction of then senior Pastors James and Carol Hinmon. Lolita was a faithful follower of Glory Unlimited and served as a facilitator under the direction of Evangelist Dorothy White. She traveled as a missionary with Glory Unlimited to Kenya and twice to Jamaica to serve the communities providing such things as medical aid/supplies, school supplies for children, and ministering to those in need. Lolita’s acts of service and volunteerism ranged from transporting renal dialysis patients to their appointments to also being a companion to patients under hospice care with Delaware Hospice. Lolita will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lolita was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years whom she married February 17, 1962, Ronald Veasey; and her brother, David Gross. She is survived by 6 beautiful children: Brian Veasey Sr., Dawn Tucker, Nicole Veasey, Candice Veasey, Allyson Veasey-Wilson, and Heather Veasey-Hogan (Sean); 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her beloved siblings: Wilma Suzanne Gross, Mary Ann Livingston (John), Donna Johnson (Roger), Wilmer Francis Gross Jr., June Sudler (Ron), and Jane Cuthbertson (Jerome); and a host of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 10-11 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Lolita’s life at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
