Matthew William Wright

Matthew William Wright, age 32, of Bear, DE, passed away too soon on Saturday, June 27, 2020. He will be joining his maternal grandfather, William Richey, and his infant son, Zackarhy Wright, in Heaven. Matthew is survived by his parents, David and Cheryl Wright; brother, Eric Wright; daughter, Lilly Wright; maternal grandmother, Terry Richey; paternal grandfather, Francis Wright (Doris); paternal grandmother, Nancy Wright; aunts, uncles, cousins, and all of his many friends. Matthew attended William Penn High School and worked for Gettier Security. Matthew, known lovingly as “Mattchu” by his closest friends, was a great father, friend, worker, and avid country music fan. Matthew’s greatest love, and his biggest accomplishment, is his daughter Lilly. Matthew and Lilly did everything together, from just hanging out, going on trips to the beach, going on trips to their favorite restaurant Olive Garden, and going on trips to see their favorite country music artists. Matthew was the life of the party and always showed his true passion for life, adventure, and country music. He was able to fulfill his lifelong dream when he co-wrote a country song called “So Fine” with country musician Wesley Spangler; the song debuted on a local country music station. Matthew was funny, fun, outgoing, and was always looking to push his friends to be the best version of themselves. Matthew has so many friends, from childhood friends, work friends, and many concert buddies he met following his favorite artists, but there’s a special group of guys that Matthew will be watching over from a country bar in the sky; Drew Akers, Shawn Adams Sr, Pete Morelli, Marvin Dewey Wyatt and Kenny Simpler. As his friends would say “everybody loves a Mattchu’, and he will be missed by so many. A visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2020, from 5:30-7 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Matthew’s life at 7 PM.
