Njungwa, a bright and vibrant young man who entered eternal rest on January 9, 2026, in Wilmington, Delaware, at the age of 19. His passing is deeply mourned by all who knew and loved him, as he leaves behind a legacy defined by love, creativity, ambition, and joy. Born on October 30, 2006, in Newark, Delaware, Melvin was the cherished son of Peter Njungwa Kamami and Caroline Njeri Maina Njungwa. A devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Melvin was known for his warm spirit, radiant smile, and genuine kindness. His generosity of heart and ability to make others feel valued left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Melvin was baptized at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Bear, Delaware, where he also received his Catholic sacraments. His faith served as a strong foundation throughout his life. He began his education at the Charter School of New Castle and later attended Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School, where he completed the masonry program as a proud member of the Class of 2025. Melvin approached his studies and future with determination, discipline, and a strong work ethic. He also dedicated time to volunteering within his community, reflecting his desire to serve others and give back. Though his life was brief, it was filled with purpose and impact. Melvin possessed a creative spirit and an entrepreneurial mindset. He founded his own clothing brand, Revive, through which he expressed his passion for fashion and design. He loved collaborating with friends on photo shoots, supporting their dreams just as enthusiastically as his own. He was also a car enthusiast. When he was not working or creating, Melvin could often be found enjoying video games—particularly Fortnite—listening to music from his favorite artists, including Lil Uzi Vert, NBA YoungBoy, and Kodak Black, and spending time with friends. His newest hobby was rapping, and he wrote several songs. Industrious and self-motivated, Melvin built his own PC, produced vlogs and YouTube videos, and edited content for friends, always eager to learn and support others. Melvin also shone in front of the camera as a model for photo shoots and worked behind the scenes as a skilled editor, bringing stories to life with his keen eye and artistry. He was also a passionate basketball fan and a devoted admirer of LeBron James. Melvin was raised in a loving home, supported by his devoted parents and siblings, Newton and Sally. He is survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish his memory. His kindness, laughter, and generous spirit touched countless lives and will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. To all whose lives Melvin touched, “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.” A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, Delaware 19701, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
