Michael Brian Spector

Michael Brian Spector, age 60, of New Castle, DE, was called home to Jesus on January 5, 2026. He is now held in his loving Savior’s arms - no longer in pain, sad, or alone - and joyfully reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Sandra Spector, and his God-fearing parents, Martin and Ann Spector. Michael was witty, unfiltered, and unapologetically himself. If you knew him, you knew exactly where you stood - there was no guessing with Mike. He loved retelling the good times (and the trouble he got into), sharing stories with enthusiasm, and making people laugh often when they least expected it. He loved his “cat-dad” life with Finn and Shadow, who ran the house and knew exactly who they were dealing with. Throughout the years, he was happiest after a day boating with his buddies, polishing off a bushel of crabs and solving the world’s problems one strong opinion at a time. Family and friend visits were always a highlight especially in the last few years of his life, when his world slowed down, but his appreciation for time together grew even deeper. Michael was a graduate of New Castle Baptist, Class of 1983. He was deeply dedicated to his work and often joked, “Time to make the donuts,” a phrase that perfectly summed up his commitment and work ethic. Michael spent many years at Builders FirstChoice, as an engineered wood designer, where he worked hard, showed up faithfully, and took pride in doing things the right way. Later in life, despite physical limitations, Michael found meaningful ways to continue serving. He volunteered behind the scenes by supporting the editing and uploading of church service videos for Bible Fellowship Church, and previously Bridge Baptist Church, helping ensure the Word reached others, quietly and faithfully. Michael loved his family fiercely, even if he didn’t always express it in traditional ways. His love showed up in consistency, in stories retold, in pride quietly felt, and in always being there in the way he knew how. His family was his greatest accomplishment, and he loved them more than words, filtered or not, could ever fully explain. Michael’s grandsons were a true light and joy to him. He loved watching them, dreaming about taking them fishing, and planning the day he’d teach them everything he knew especially how to not get caught or be the fall guy. Michael is survived by his daughter, Amanda Gibboni (Matt); and Jessica Stewart and Melissa Beauregard, whom he loved as his own; his siblings: Tracy Hostetter (Carl), Lynda Spector, and Shawn Spector; his beloved grandsons; extended family, dear friends, unfinished fishing plans, and stories that will absolutely continue to be told. Services will be private, honoring Michael in a way that reflects his wishes and the closeness of those who loved him most. In lieu of flowers (because Mike would say it may hurt the cats…), the family welcomes donations to Door of Hope, a charity that was near and dear to his wife’s heart and one Michael faithfully supported since her passing in 2019.
