Rodger William Moyer

Rodger William Moyer, 82, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 31, 2025. Born on December 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Wilford and Ruth Dill Moyer. Rodger retired after 20 years of service to The Delaware State Police, where he was a sergeant and detective. He also proudly served in the United States National Guard. Following his distinguished service, he went on to work for MBNA for over 15 years. Never one to sit still, he continued to work other jobs throughout his life to stay busy and to provide his family with a beautiful life. He was deeply respected by his colleagues and community for his integrity, leadership, and unwavering dedication. Rodger also found happiness in life‘s simple pleasures. He loved trips to the beach, playing poker with friends, listening to music every night on the porch with his wife, and spending time with his beloved dog, Scarlett. A proud Freemason, he lived his life guided by the principles of brotherhood, compassion, and service. More than anything, he was a devoted family man, the patriarch whose love and guidance formed the heart of his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved most, his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who adored him dearly. His warmth, humor, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rodger’s legacy Of love, loyalty, and kindness will continue to shine through the family and friends he cherished so much. Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Peggy Sue Moyer; his children: Timothy Moyer (Mitzi), of Millsboro, DE, Robin Cross (Chad), of Odessa, DE, Kimberly Tomlinson (Danny) of New Castle, DE, Bryan Moyer (Morgan) of Clayton, DE, Alexis Honaker, Jeffrey Moyer (Olivia) of Wilmington, DE & Jordyn Moyer of Newark, DE; grandchildren: Ruthie Moyer, Haley Tomlinson (Kyle), Riley Tomlinson (Maddie); great grandchildren: Jocelynn Crews, Owen Moyer, Camdyn Moyer, Lulu Moyer, Grant Moyer, Thomas Moyer, and Justus Moyer; his brother, Robert Moyer; special niece, Karen Moyer; nieces; nephews, and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, Rodger was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Sandra Moyer. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 7, from 9:30 to 11 AM at the Strano and Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702.
