Ronald Scott

Ronald Scott was the son of the late Ronald Scott Sr. and Yvonne Darlene Clark. He was raised by the late Zenobia Brown whom he loved dearly. Ron was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 16, 1965 and he fell asleep in death on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Ron, affectionately known as “Meechie” was educated in the William Penn School district. He was a great athlete; he played football and ran track for Darby-Colwyn High and Penn Wood High School. After graduation Ron enlisted in the Marines where he spent 6 years. Returning to civilian life, he held many jobs until he found his niche as a property manager. Ron worked for Simon Property Group as a Property Manager for 17 years. He managed properties in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland until he became ill in 2016. Ron was known for his quick wit and just being cool. He loved to roller skate and was involved in a skate circuit. Ron also enjoyed being involved in his community. He coached track and football for several years. In the early 1990’s a group of friends formed a club called “Black Knights” in which they held many formal affairs and donated the proceeds by sponsoring a youth drill team as well as supported education needs in the community. Ron loved taking vacations with his family and friends, especially going to the beach, making picnic lunches, and going to the park with his wife. He was also a master on the grill. Ron took great pride in his brisket, chicken, and home-made hamburgers, and he loved international food and game nights with the family. Ron met and married the love of his life, Troye Matthews, on May 3, 1998. From that union came Ronald Scott, III (deceased) and Taylor Alese Scott. Taylor was the apple of his eye. He enjoyed their many father/daughter outings. Before Ron fell ill, he was an avid bike rider. After he taught Taylor how to ride, they would spend many Sundays riding through Fairmount park. Ron came to know the most-high, Jehovah God, from studying the bible. He was baptized in Philadelphia on July 4, 2015. He had a zeal for the ministry and enjoyed family worship. Ron served as a Ministerial Servant and Regular Auxiliary Pioneer at the Christiana Congregation. He especially enjoyed volunteering at the Regional conventions. Ronald is survived by his wife, Troye Scott; his daughter, Taylor Scott; his sisters: Jaquelyn Jay (Donald Jay) and Dorrita Chanel Thomas; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Matthews; brothers-in-law: Billy and Jaison Matthew; sisters-in-law: Erica and Michelle Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncle in-laws; cousins; and friends. Ronald was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Marie Thomas and brother-in-law Edward King. A memorial service for Ronald will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2101 Red Lion Road, Bear, DE 19701.
