Rosebud "Rose" L. Longacre

Rosebud “Rose” L. Longacre, age 74, sadly passed away at home on July 3, 2025 as her loving daughter held her hand, and her son-in-law and grandchildren also gathered by her side. Rose lived with Multiple Sclerosis for 26 years and bravely battled PML in the last several months of her life. Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Her daughter and two grandchildren were the loves of her life. There was nothing she loved more than being a Grammy. She enjoyed playing games, building with Legos, playing hide and seek, crafting, exploring in the backyard, or doing whatever Mackenzie and Kayson wanted her to do with them. Rose was one of 10 children and grew up in Wilmington, DE, graduating from Henry C. Conrad High School. She was the glue that held her family together. She was always there when everyone needed her the most, offering support, guidance, and unconditional love to all. Rose hosted large, family gatherings at her long-time home in Saint Georges, DE to celebrate holidays and special occasions for many years. Her backyard swimming pool was the center of much fun and was enjoyed by family and friends every summer. Throughout her life, Rose was a very hard-working businesswoman. She and her late husband, Jack, owned several businesses including Jack’s Buffet, Triangle Auto Sales, and Bridge Auto Sales. They also worked together preparing meals for the members of Howard Weston Senior Center and they catered many special events for people as well before the two of them retired. In addition to all of their shared businesses, Rose and Jack shared a love for football and were both avid fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. Many Sundays were spent watching their games with family. Even during a recent hospital stay, Rose made sure to watch the Eagles play in the “Big Game” earlier this year. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanora (Marshall) Miller, Martin Walls, and her stepfather, Lewis Miller; her daughter, Catherine Longacre; her husband, John “Jack” Longacre Sr,; her sisters: June Shiles, Ida Sawyer, and Betty Boyer; and her brothers: Charles "Butch” Marshall, Martin Walls, and Howard Walls. She is survived by her daughter, Jaclyn Longacre (Roger); her grandchildren, Mackenzie Mitchem and Kayson Mitchem; her sister, Nancy Hermes (Scott); her brothers, Robert Walls (Margie), and Joseph Walls; her aunt, Ginger Babicki; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Rose’s passing leaves us all broken hearted and she will be missed more than words can say. Her memory will live on forever in in the hearts of those who loved her. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service in the Garden of Peace Section of Gracelawn Memorial Park at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 26. Loved ones are asked to please help to fill up a memory jar with a written note for Rose's grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kayson, with some favorite memories of their Grammy.
