Stephen Francis Considine

Stephen F. Considine, Sr., age 72 of New Castle DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, with his wife Janice and sons Stephen and William by his side. Steve was born in Bronx, New York on December 27, 1937 and he moved to Delaware in 1963. After graduating from Archbishop Stepinac High School, he served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963 onboard the USS Albemarle (AV-5) and the supercarrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59). While in the Navy, Steve worked with and learned much about aircraft arresting systems. He developed this knowledge into a long and successful career with Engineered Arresting Systems Corporation (Zodiac ESCO, previously known as E. W. Bliss, Gulf + Western, ADEC, Wicks and Daytron), retiring as Manager of Field Service in 2009 after 46 years of service. During his career, he traveled the world extensively, working on projects in countries such as Australia, Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Finland to name just a few. A loving husband and father, Steve loved the sea, all things nautical, going out on his boat, fishing, photography and spending time with family and friends. Steve is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice; his sons William (Bill) Considine, Stephen Considine, Jr., his wife Maureen and their children Nicholas and Paige; Brother: James Considine and his wife Noreen of New York; Sisters: Winifred Ryan of New Jersey and Mary Theresa Considine of New York; Nephews: Sean Ryan, his wife Lisa and their children Patrick and Joshua of Michigan; Michael Ryan, his wife Theresa and their son Michael of New Jersey; Michael Considine, his wife Maureen and their children Kevin, Colleen, Matthew, Catherine and Elizabeth of Connecticut; James Considine, Jr. of California; Nieces: Kathryn McGowan, her husband John and their children James, Maeve and Caelyn of New York; Maureen Considine of Massachusetts; and Mary Francis Howley, her husband David and their daughter Caitlin of New Jersey. Mr.Considine is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Michael Considine of New York. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in the STRANO & FEELEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. Family may call beginning at 9 am and friends from 10 to 11 am. Visitation will be followed by a service in celebration of Steve’s Life at 11 am. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
