Teresita A. Greenwood

Teresita (Tessie) A. Greenwood, age 83, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 29, 2023. Tessie was born April 2, 1940 in the Philippines to the late Luciano and Severina Adverderada and was one of eight siblings. Tessie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her greatest priority in life was focused on spending twenty years happily raising her children, who were her pride and joy. After having successfully completed that, she went on to enjoy working at the Marina, Imperial Palace, Monte Carlo, and Lady Luck casinos in Las Vegas for fifteen years. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and watching game shows like The Price is Right and Card Sharks. She was also a great cook, making many of her native Filipino dishes, which everyone loved and looked forward to at gatherings. Her greatest joys were the times she spent with her close-knit family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for her best friends, Grace and Merci, who were also by her side when she went home to be with the Lord. Tessie was kind and loving and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael Greenwood; daughter, Lilibeth (Richard) Tassoni; sons, Craig Chandlee and Wayne Chandlee; granddaughters, Jennifer (David) Echols and Gia Luciano; great-grandson, Jaimus Roman Huckoby; sister, Rosita A. Domingo; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Teofila Tibayan, Soledad Adverderada, Aurelia Adverderada; brothers, Francisco, Moises, Wayni Adverderada; and father of her sons, Daniel J. Chandlee. “We all know of the saying that tomorrow’s never promised. But it doesn’t seem to resonate ‘til it feels like life has robbed us. The ones we love are here one moment and then they’re gone in the next. We could be sharing laughs together, then suddenly taking their last breath. It’s often taken for granted; this miracle called life. Gone in a blink of an eye, the loss cuts deep as a knife. So make time for what truly matters and everyone that you love, because we don’t know what will happen or when we’re needed up above.” ~Gia Luciano The family wishes to send our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Delaware Hospice at St Francis Hospital – Dr. Denick, Dr. Altanuro, Jo-Ann, Tara, Carine, Stacey, Ebele, Shanika, Rita, Mary Jo, Michelle, Margaret, Leiana, and Rhodicia. They all took excellent care of Tessie. They were compassionate and treated her with dignity and respect. At Tessie’s request services will be private.
