Tyler M. Beck

Tyler Martin Beck, 34, went home to the Lord on January 31, 2024, as the result of a fatal motorcycle accident in Knoxville, TN. Tyler was born on July 17, 1989, in Newark, DE, to Jon Beck and Carol Cathell. Tyler grew up in Bear, DE, and after graduating from Red Lion Christian Academy, enrolled in Del-Tech Community College. Deciding he wanted a break from school, Tyler went to work for Office Movers, Inc., in New Castle, DE, for a brief period before joining the Marine Corps. Tyler served his country for 10 years, rapidly progressing to Staff Sergeant before he was honorably discharged. His career with the Marines began in intel and he was stationed in several different states. Tyler was deployed to Okinawa to help with the Tsunami reconnaissance efforts and to Afghanistan during the war. Finally finishing out his military career as a Recruiter in West Branch, MI. After returning home, Tyler enjoyed working at Bellefonte Brewery before moving to TN and living his best life ever. Tyler loved to travel, read, cook, play and watch sports, especially all Philly teams. He loved making people laugh and being the “go-to guy” for his mother and sister. Tyler earned a certificate to fly drones and he spent time dabbling in the stock market. He was a lifelong learner and his latest wish was to go back to school and become a teacher. Not only did Tyler want to teach kids, he would have enjoyed summers off to go to the lake and ride his electric surfboard. He would have also enjoyed his time off to hike with his beloved companion, his dog, Macca. Tyler was a loyal friend with a sincere and gentle soul. Tyler has been described as a bright shooting star whose light faded far too soon and that his short life read like an adventure novel you just can’t put down. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Mary Lou Martin, and Harry and Priscilla Beck. Survivors include parents, Jon (Nancy) Beck and Carol (Nick) Cathell; sister, Cassidy (Jose) Cathell; aunts and uncles: Bruce (Colleen) Martin, Deb (Rich) Schueneman, Jeff (Amy) Beck, and Chris Beck; cousins: Matt (Brooke) Fernandez, Kelly (Andrew) Loeffler, Eric (Amanda) Fernandez, Zach Martin and Harry Beck; as well as their extended families and a slew of friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2023, from 9:30-11 AM, at Strano and Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE, 19702, followed by a celebration of Tyler’s life at 11 AM.
