Virginia Lee Sikes

Virginia Lee Sikes was born in Wilmington, Ohio on May 3rd, 1936 to Clarence and Mabel Bias. She would later become the big sister to three brothers, Eugene (Gene), Daryl and Richard whom she loved dearly, cared for daily, talked about often and asked for up until she passed away. Virginia went on to distinguish herself in High School by playing the clarinet in the school’s marching band and demonstrating her intelligence through successful competitions in mathematics. In 1957, she married an Air Force enlisted man, Weldon C. Sikes of Evergreen, Louisiana, a decision that would take her to live in Japan, England, and Italy as well as visit many places in between those stations. Virginia is survived by her brother, Gene (Melba) Bias; her sons Charles (Betty), Robert (Helen) and Grandchildren Elvin, Daniel, Cassandra, Peyton and Baxter as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and her close friend Frank Sharp. She has been described as “the best Aunt anyone could ever ask for” and “my sister-in-law was amazingly kind and generous” or “there is no one who could ever replace MY Aunt Virginia!” She was a gifted hostess and was blessed with the spirit of hospitality. She was not only a great cook but set visually spectacular dinner events! She was fun-loving with an amazing sense of humor that captivated those she knew even into her advanced age. Virginia’s Christian faith was exemplified by her service in her church, training and education of new converts, visiting the sick and infirmed as well as taking meals to people who couldn’t leave their homes. Virginia was a blessing to many and easy to love. Always thankful and polite. In her latter years, as her dementia progressed, Helen and Robert had the privilege of becoming her full-time caregivers. Even in the midst of the progression of the disease, she was sweet, caring, polite and frequently funny and easy to love. We take comfort knowing that she was with family during her last moments and passed at home according to her wishes. We love her dearly and miss her desperately! God took Virginia home on Feb 6, 2026 and our lives have a huge void where she lived. Services will be held privately at the request of the family.
